If you’re an author, you will greatly benefit from understanding how marketing works.
To expand the reach of your content marketing throughout the web, you’ll need a website.
But a successful website needs to be accessible to everyone, including people with visual impairment. This is also a great opportunity to promote an audiobook version of your book.
Why is this important? Apart from ethical and legal reasons, an accessible website will improve your SEO efforts. Additionally, it will help you access a larger audience. Did you know that there are almost 300 million visually impaired people in the world? That’s a lot of people you can help by creating an accessible website. But how do you do that?
First of all, you need to think about color. Don’t rely on it to explain something on your website, and make sure you provide enough contrast for all content
Next, make sure users of your website can manually adjust the size of your font. Make sure they can also use just a keyboard to navigate through your website since many visually impaired users don’t utilize a mouse.
Organize your headings and information in a logical way, and if you have ads on your site, avoid using too many of them since that can create a very negative experience. If you have visual content like videos and images, make sure you provide alt text so blind users know what it’s about.
