I recently received an email about the next steps after self-publishing a book. Unfortunately I average about 200 emails a day so I can’t remember who sent it, but it contained some interesting tidbits.
Self-publishing is great, but it’s also important to make sure you reach your readers. Ways to do this is to know
- who your readers are,
- what they like,
- what they’re willing to pay for your books,
- where they hang out, and
- how they like to communicate.
The email advocated three ways to find this information, One is to Google your keywords, and find forums and active communities to join. Another is to connect to bloggers in your niche, and comment on relevant posts. And you can also search on large social network sites. On Twitter search hashtags and trending topics, and on Google Plus find articles and comments.
