Garden District Book Shop

Tuesday, January 3, 2012 by Sabrina Ricci

Over winter break I went to New Orleans with my family for the first time. While leisurely strolling around the Garden District we stumbled upon the Garden District Book Shop, a small but beautiful indie bookstore with loads of signed books. Browsing bookstores always reminds me why I wanted to go into the publishing business. So many books! So many great stories begging … [Read more...] about Garden District Book Shop

Love and Care Pop-up Bookstore

Wednesday, November 16, 2011 by Sabrina Ricci

Gotta love the holiday season. New Zealand publisher PQ Blackwell opened two LOVE AND CARE pop-up bookstores in Manhattan. Today, a friend and I explored the one in the Meatpacking District, on 344 W 14th Street. The store is open seven days a week, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., until the end of December (or possibly only until Christmas). The store sells art and coffee-table … [Read more...] about Love and Care Pop-up Bookstore

853 Books

Wednesday, May 18, 2011 by Sabrina Ricci

Take a good look. This is what 853 books looks like. My own personal library, full of YA and picture books, with a few adult books as well. Ah, the benefits of interning at Random House. Random House was in the process of moving to smaller offices, which meant everyone had to shrink their inventories, which … [Read more...] about 853 Books

Barnes & Noble

Wednesday, December 15, 2010 by Sabrina Ricci

Rumor has it that Barnes & Noble may no longer exist one year from now. In the meantime, I can enjoy their stores and Christmas decorations. And I can also play around with their Nook. The new color Nook was recently released. It uses LED like Apple's iPad, but it's formatted similarly to Amazon's Kindle--with a twist. There's an interesting feature that shows book … [Read more...] about Barnes & Noble

My Favorite Manhattan Christmas Window Displays

Tuesday, December 14, 2010 by Sabrina Ricci

Yesterday was the first day I was out in the snow. It was light and pretty, and by the time I got home, I couldn't feel my hands, because I got very camera happy and couldn't stop taking pictures of all the beautiful and elaborate window displays in Manhattan. Below are some of the best ones, and if you want to see a whole slideshow, check out my Passports and Placemats … [Read more...] about My Favorite Manhattan Christmas Window Displays
