The title of The Prince and the Singularity: A Circular Tale is very apt. The story has many circles, which for the most part I found fascinating. It’s another great example of the experimenting you can do with self-publishing, and I really enjoyed how the author Pedro Barrento was upfront in the beginning of the book about what the story is: “It’s prose, but it reads … [Read more...] about E-Book Review: The Prince and the Singularity

E-Book Review: The Ugly American Quagmire
John Harnish is known for his humor and his way of pushing the envelope, as seen with his self-published “The Immortalization of Fuck” in 1972. One of his more recent books, The Ugly American Quagmire, fits this style. The whole 160 pages is basically dialogue between Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson. Harnish, who is a descendant of Ben Franklin, has written a piece of … [Read more...] about E-Book Review: The Ugly American Quagmire

E-Book Review: The Wizard in Wonderland
This is now my third review of a Ron Glick book, and I have to say, I am a fan of him and his work. The one downside is he’s started three really addicting series, but so far there is only one book in each series (though I hear the second novel in The Godslayer Cycle will be out soon). His latest novel, which came out earlier this year, is The Wizard in Wonderland, which … [Read more...] about E-Book Review: The Wizard in Wonderland
E-Book Review: Tarinel’s Song
The author, Ron Glick, kindly provided me with a copy of his second novel, Tarinel’s Song. I had the pleasure of reading and reviewing his first novel, One, the first in a series about two sets of gods fighting against each other. Tarinel’s Song is the first in a series that involves elves, mages, and gods. In this book, a particular “song” spells the potential end of the … [Read more...] about E-Book Review: Tarinel’s Song
E-Book Review: Orphans
Orphans: Time is Running Out is a fast-paced thriller about vampires and their fight for survival in a world run by humans. Written by Ian Dewar, this story combines interesting historical facts about the cities it takes place in along with other elements in a typical thriller: action and fighting scenes, love interests, and a few sizzling sex scenes (though these scenes are … [Read more...] about E-Book Review: Orphans
E-Book Review: One
One is the first book of an epic nine book series on gods and god slayers. Ron Glick has created a very rich world, one that involves multiple religions, magic, and complicated relationships between the main characters. This first book revolves mostly around Nathanial Goodsmith, a man born to fulfill a prophecy to help what are known as the old gods. But there are many … [Read more...] about E-Book Review: One
E-Book Review: Golden Biker
The Golden Biker is a tongue-in-cheek book, written by Alexander von Eisenhart Rothe. There is a lot of dark humor, which involves Nazis, drugs, shady characters, and a lot of adventure. Told through multiple points of view, the story is follows (at least) four main characters who, through a series of coincidences, end up traveling together in India. They are searching for … [Read more...] about E-Book Review: Golden Biker
E-Book Review: Don’t Judge a Book By Its Magic
I’m a fan of magic, as well as the author Kate Policani. She’s a self-published author with some very creative marketing ideas, and I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to interview her (interview to be posted later). Her newest book is Don’t Judge a Book By Its Magic, and it tells the story of 18-year-old Colleen, who suddenly discovers she’s part of a race of people … [Read more...] about E-Book Review: Don’t Judge a Book By Its Magic
E-Book Review: Under the Thelián Sky
The premise alone of Under the Thelian Sky is intriguing. Frank “The Christian Noob” has spent many years struggling with his faith, and I found his book to be creative and a unique perspective on the history of the human race. I’d characterize the writing style of the story to be experimental, since it’s written as a report. At times, this can be dry, but overall … [Read more...] about E-Book Review: Under the Thelián Sky
Book Review: T-Rex by the Tail
No, T-rex by the Tail has nothing to do with dinosaurs, and yes, being a dinosaur enthusiast, I did initially make that mistake. But I quickly got over the lack of actual dinosaurs and got sucked in to this story that chronicles a family with four boys and how they grew up under “Jurassic parenting.” The book opens with Karl Patton, a tough but loving dad who is … [Read more...] about Book Review: T-Rex by the Tail
E-Book Review: Married to Murder
“Married to Murder” is a short story by Jennifer Oberth, a crime writer and multiple NaNoWriMo winner. I had the pleasure of “meeting” her through the NaNo forums. Jennifer’s story is about Ella Westin, an informant for a government agency in 1827. The story is written in a unique way—all of the events are written from Ella’s perspective, in a report she has filed for her … [Read more...] about E-Book Review: Married to Murder
Book Review: Damned
Damned is Chuck Palahniuk’s latest novel, which will be released in October of this year. I was one of the lucky people to meet Chuck Palahniuk at BEA and get a signed advance copy of the book. The story is about a 13-year-old girl named Madison Spencer, who has died and gone to Hell after supposedly overdosing on marijuana. According to Madison, there are a lot of reasons … [Read more...] about Book Review: Damned
Book Review: Eromenos
Eromenos is Melanie McDonald's debut novel, and it is beautiful. I had the pleasure of meeting Melanie at this year's BEA, and she gave me a signed copy of her book, which includes a map of the Roman Empire during Hadrian’s rule in 116 A.D. The story is about Antinous, a Greek boy, and his relationship with the Roman Emperor Hadrian. Not much is known about Antinous. He was … [Read more...] about Book Review: Eromenos
